OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2011. Following up the discussion of the approaches to accelerating large-scale construction throughout Turkmenistan, which had taken place at the recent government meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip around Ashgabat. As is known, the Turkmen leader attaches considerable importance to the issues regarding development and improvement of the main city of the country, and during this trip made at the request of Vice Premier D. Orazov in charge of the construction sector and Ashgabat Khyakim Sh. Durdylyev, the Turkmen leader visited the construction sites in Ashgabat to see the progress in implementing the important urban development projects.

During the trip the Turkmen leader paid particular attention to development of transport and communication infrastructure given the prospects for expansion of the city.

The President’s car headed for the rapidly developing south-eastern part of the city along the ring road. First, the Turkmen leader visited the construction site of a new traffic artery, which would become a continuation of Andalib Avenue and connect this highway with the ring road being laid around Ashgabat.

Upon inspecting the progress of construction work, the President gave the specific instructions to the relevant high-ranking officials, in particular to ensure compliance with international quality standards, and emphasized that facilities under construction along the new highway should blend well with the urban landscape and became an integral part of the magnificent architectural ensemble of the Turkmen capital.

Touching upon the road construction projects, the Turkmen leader focused on the practicability of extending the new highway to the ring road. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed Vice Premier D. Orazov, the Ashgabat Khyakim and the Chairman of the Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern to ensure that the construction projects were accelerated and met the quality standards.

Then the President visited the construction site of a road interchange being built by the Revival Company (Russia) at the intersection of the southern section of the ring road with Turkmenbashi Avenue. The Turkmen leader talked to workers and specialists about the progress of construction and noted that the work did not stop even on weekends. Workers and specialists said that they were paid for overtime. During the lively conversation with the road builders President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov asked them about the working conditions and how the construction of important facilities of national significance could be accelerated. In conclusion the Turkmen leader wished every success in their constructive labour to the road builders and bade farewell heartily.

The Turkmen leader visited the sites of facilities being built by the well-known Turkish company Polimeks. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the need to widely apply innovative design ideas, including the elements of modern urban aesthetics. The Turkmen leader said that the new highway and buildings and facilities along it, including lighting, planting of greenery, layout of bosquets and flower beds, must meet international requirements. In this regard the Turkmen leader demanded that relevant high-ranking officials ensure that facilities and buildings in the capital would be put into operation according to schedule and meet international quality standards. Upon considering the urban development projects, the Turkmen leader provided the specific comments and recommendations noting that the guidelines for the design and implementation of all projects must be latest engineering thought and innovative technologies.

On the day when the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was visiting the construction sites in the southern part of Ashgabat, the majestic peaks of the Kopetdag Mountains were capped with snow. Looking at this enchanting panorama of the snow-covered mountain slopes that blended amazingly well with the beauty of white-marble buildings of the Turkmen capital, the President said that that long-awaited snow would feed mountain springs and lay the groundwork for the success of this year’s agricultural campaigns and thus contribute to improving the welfare and wellbeing of Turkmen citizens. Fields throughout the country covered with snow is a guarantee of our future rich harvests.

The Turkmen leader visited the construction sites located along Avenue Archabil to see the progress in forming the new business city centre. According to the general plan of city development, a number of large facilities, including Palace of Congress, the new office buildings of ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Construction and others, are under construction there. These modern buildings is to embody the high creative spirit of the epoch of new Revival and great reforms, innovative technologies and latest scientific advances harmoniously combined with the national architectural traditions.

The Turkmen leader thoroughly inspected the progress of construction of office buildings and of social and cultural facilities, which would form a new administrative, business and cultural centre of the Turkmen capital in the near future and replenish beauty of the modern urban landscape of Ashgabat. Emphasizing that these and all other construction projects launched throughout the country must apply latest achievements of world architecture and engineering thought as well as the best traditions of the national art of building, the Turkmen leader demanded that the relevant high-ranking officials keep rigorous control of adherence to construction schedule and quality requirements.

The President visited a locality on Archabil Avenue laid at the foothills of Gindivar. Looking out over a panorama of construction sites, the President emphasized that the ultimate goal of the ambitious urban development programme launched in Ashgabat and throughout the country was to create an optimal urban environment with modern infrastructure and favourable living, working and recreation conditions. Our main concern is the people. This principle must be adhered to in the urban planning policy as well, emphasized the Turkmen leader. For everything we build and create today, in the epoch of new Revival and great reforms must be of high quality and aesthetic value, because all these will serve not only the present but also the future generations of the Turkmen people, said the President.

Summing up the working trip, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the Vice Premiers, the Ashgabat Khyakim and other high-ranking officials, who accompanied him, and demanded that they ensure that the construction schedule and quality standards would be meet and take the necessary measures to accelerate construction work.
