OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2011. Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Sergei Shoigu briefed the President on the second stage of the evacuation of Russian citizens from the ports of Sirte and Ras Lanuf in Libya.

The President instructed the Minister to continue all the necessary and possible measures to ensure a safe evacuation of Russian citizens.

Yesterday Emergencies Ministry aircraft transported 339 people, citizens of Russia and CIS countries, from the Libyan capital of Tripoli to Moscow. In addition, a ferry is currently on its way to Libya for the evacuation of Russians and citizens of other states working in Libya under a contract with Russian companies.
Earlier, the President instructed the Emergencies Ministry to draw up a detailed contingency plan for the evacuation of Russian citizens from Libya.
