OREANDA-NEWS Norwegian journalist Jan Petter Saltvedt published an article after Alexander Bolshunov's victory in skiathlon at the Beijing Olympics.

"Alexander Bolshunov will win as many gold medals as he can. The only problem is that he and other Russian athletes should not be at this Olympics.

Bolshunov was so great that he could afford to start celebrating and clapping already at the last kilometer. The smiling Russian, according to the tradition of all winners, finished with such a margin, waving the flag. But it wasn't the Russian tricolor — it was the flag of the ROC.

Russia still cannot be itself at the Olympic Games. But the organizers, the Russians and the IOC are working closely to change the scope of what is allowed. This little theater is a parody of the verdict," the journalist wrote on the NRK website.

Saltvedt also recalled the doping scandals at the Vancouver and Sochi Games and concluded.

"Two years of complete exclusion of the country, no use of the Russian flag — that would be perceived as a real punishment for Russia. Otherwise, the verdict does not matter at all. But this is what the IOC is trying to achieve. They want the biggest country in the world and their sponsors to participate in the competition.

At a press conference, Bolshunov was asked about doping, which caused him indignation. But such questions will be asked further. In the same way, Terese Johaug will not be able to get rid of the label of a doper even after the first personal Olympic gold," the journalist said.

Earlier it became known that Alexander Bolshunov won Olympic gold in skiathlon. At the moment, the ROC team takes second place in the medal standings.
