OREANDA-NEWS. Russian divers Alexander Bondar and Viktor Minibaev won bronze medals at the Olympic Games - 2020 in Tokyo in a synchronous 10m platform. The result of Russian athletes is 89.64.
Winner of the bronze medal of the Olympics paired with Alexander Bondar and the medalist of the World Championships in diving Viktor Minibaev intends to end his career in individual jumping after the Tokyo Olympics.
Minibaev, who turned 30 before the start of the Olympics, specializes in individual and synchronized platform diving.
“In general, I planned to end my career,” Minibaev said in an interview with RIA Novosti. “Age makes itself felt. When you start training after a break, you feel it especially keenly. When I got in shape, it’s already easier, but the reboot is very difficult. I will definitely finish my career in individual jumps, but we'll see about the rest. Well, if we talk about any other plans, I really want to go to Las Vegas. I never have been there".
The victory was won by Thomas Daly and Matthew Lee of Great Britain with a score of 101.01. Silver medals went to the representatives of China, Yuan Cao and Aisen Chen, who lost less than one point to the British. The Ukrainian duet of Oleg Serbin and Alexey Sereda is in sixth place.
It is recalled that the Tokyo Olympics were supposed to be held from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the competition was postponed for a year and will now take place from July 23 to August 8, 2021. Russia will be represented in Tokyo by 335 athletes who will compete in 33 sports.
