OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2016. David Lametti, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade, is in the Netherlands, Italy and France from October 10 to 13, 2016, to advocate for the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with civil society organizations, business associations, parliamentarians and government leaders.

Canada and the EU place a high priority on signing CETA this year and implementing the agreement next year. Timely implementation of CETA will help boost the prosperity of the middle class.

The visit of the Parliamentary Secretary is part of CETA advocacy led by the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade. The Minister meets frequently with her European counterparts, including Cecilia Malmstr?m, European Commissioner for Trade, in Europe and at international forums. Several Government of Canada ministers are also involved in advocating for the signing and ratification of the agreement.
