A new selection for the cosmonaut squad has begun in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS Roscosmos has announced the start of the fourth open recruitment to the cosmonaut squad, follows from a message on the state corporation's website.
"Today, Roscosmos and the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center announce the start of an open competition for the selection of cosmonaut candidates. The goal is to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks of the Federal Space Program of Russia," the statement says.It is noted that any Russian under the age of 35 who meets all the requirements can take part in the competition.
Applicants must submit packages of personal and medical documents to the competition commission. The CPC will accept applications until October 30 of this year. After the correspondence examination, the candidates who have passed will be invited to face-to-face testing for compliance with the requirements for professional suitability, the corporation clarified.
Roscosmos is holding an open selection for the fourth time. In 2012 and 2018, eight candidates passed it, in 2021 — four. Now there are 26 people in the Russian cosmonaut squad.
As the commander of the detachment Oleg Kononenko told RIA Novosti, according to the results of the selection, up to six people will join it. Moreover, according to Kononenko, it is desirable that half of them were women.
