OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country's achievements in the nuclear field are impressive. This is "some kind of fiction," he said at a meeting with young scientists of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - the All—Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics in Sarov, according to a statement on the Kremlin's website.

According to Putin, the new project on high energy density physics in the center is important for Russia's defense capability.

"I understand how important this is for the economy, for the national economy, and for improving the country's defense capability, I am familiar with some achievements in this area," the president said.

At a meeting with scientists, Vladimir Putin said that the conflict in Ukraine was provoked by ill-wishers, including to limit the development of Russia. The Head of State recalled his visit to the city in 2014. Then, he said, the country's detractors were only taking the first steps in attempts to limit the technological sovereignty of the state.
