OREANDA-NEWS Roskachestvo has received a number of complaints from consumers about problems with biologically active additives (dietary supplements) in Russia, in this regard, it is conducting the first large-scale monitoring of this market, Maxim Protasov, head of Roskachestvo, told RIA Novosti.

He noted that since 2021, there has been a rapid growth of the Russian dietary supplements market - so, if in 2020 the market volume in monetary terms amounted to 52.5 billion rubles, then in 2022 it will be already 100 billion.

"This year, Roskachestvo received signals from this industry, from consumers and Rosaccreditation about serious problems with such products, including those sold in online channels. Based on all the collected data, Roskachestvo decided to begin large-scale monitoring of the dietary supplements market in order to identify violations of the law and cleanse the Russian market of products that are actually not dietary supplements and with substances prohibited in the EAEU," Protasov said.

According to him, cases have already been recorded on the Russian market when substances prohibited by the technical regulations of the Customs Union were used in dietary supplements. In addition, the head of the organization stressed that dietary supplements are not a medicinal product, but in fact they are sold on the market as medicines, which is absolutely unacceptable.
