OREANDA-NEWS  The license of the autonomous non-profit educational organization "Anglo-American School of Moscow" (AASH, included in the register of foreign agents) was invalidated by the order of Rosobrnadzor dated July 12, 2023, follows from the departmental register of licenses of educational organizations.

The license was issued on May 17, 2021 by the Moscow Department of Education and Science.

At the end of June this year, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added AASH to the register of foreign agents.

In early July, the Russian Foreign Ministry refuted the statement of the press secretary of the US Department of State Matthew Miller that the closure of the Anglo-American school in Moscow was forced due to pressure from the Russian authorities.

As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova noted, "the recognition of AASH in its current form as a "foreign agent" (...) it only reflects the actual state of affairs arising from its registration as an "autonomous non-profit organization", but does not entail any prohibition at all."

"Moreover, American educational programs were used in the training process, including those promoting non-traditional values that were deliberately imposed on underage Russian citizens in violation of our laws," Zakharova explained.
