OREANDA-NEWS Russia is closely monitoring the intensification of Japanese-American maneuvers near its Far Eastern borders. This was stated by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Japan Nikolai Nozdrev to the RIA Novosti news agency.

Moscow, according to the diplomat, regularly warns Tokyo that it will be forced to take countermeasures to block military threats.

Earlier, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, called Japan's statements about the nuclear threat "a shame and a disgrace."

Before that, Japan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Mitsuko Seno, recalled the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine. She pointed to Tokyo's concerns about the alleged nuclear threat from Russia, but did not specify that the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Japanese cities.
