OREANDA-NEWS State tests of the Stretta laser range system are expected to begin in April, according to a source in the Russian defense industry, who spoke with TASS.

The source told TASS that state tests of the system are scheduled to start on April 1 this year and will last about three months. However, the message stressed that this information has not been officially confirmed.

Last April, TASS reported that state tests for Stretta were expected to start in the summer, citing a source in the military-industrial complex. The system is designed to create virtual reality simulations of combat conditions.In 2019, it was announced that the Russian Ministry of Defense had signed a contract for the implementation of an experimental design project (R&D) called "Stretta". The project will involve the simultaneous training of two teams using laser firing simulators at a specialized training ground. During the project, software will also be developed to analyze the performance of the military personnel. The estimated cost of the Stretta project was 756 million rubles.
