OREANDA-NEWS  The tanker, which became diesel fuel for loading, leaked on the Lena River in Ust-Kut, Irkutsk region, the consequences of the spill are being eliminated, the governor of the region Igor Kobzev said.

"The incident with the spill of petroleum products on the Lena was reported from Ust-Kut. Tonight, the tanker, which became diesel fuel for loading, leaked," Kobzev wrote in his telegram channel.

According to the head of the Department of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the Ust-Kut municipality Sergey Moiseev, three rows of booms were installed on the spot, a sorbent was used to clean the water area.

"At the moment, petroleum products do not flow out of the booms. An additional vessel was brought to the tanker to transfer fuel to it. The work has already begun. By the evening, they plan to eliminate the consequences of the spill," Kobzev said.

The situation is under the control of the Transport Prosecutor's Office. Specialists of the interregional department of Rosprirodnadzor were also sent to the site.
