OREANDA-NEWS The use of Russian energy resources would be beneficial for the economy of South Korea, and Russia expects that in the future the energy component of cooperation between the two countries will at least return to previous indicators, said Russian Ambassador to South Korea Georgy Zinoviev.

According to him, the proximity of the Republic of Korea to such a "stable, rich and reliable" energy supplier as Russia is a "natural advantage" for the country.

"If the Korean side uses this competitive advantage, it will ultimately contribute to the stable operation of the economy. If you overpay for energy resources at exorbitant prices, guided only by some political considerations and refusing cheap options at hand, then, of course, in the future the economy will lose competitiveness," the ambassador told reporters.

He added that this is exactly the situation observed in the West. And although the level of imports of Russian energy resources to South Korea has "significantly subsided," Seoul has not officially joined such measures as, for example, the ceiling on oil prices, which Russia noted "in a positive way."
