OREANDA-NEWS   The bill on biometrics, which caused a wide resonance, was significantly changed, all uncertainties and double interpretations were excluded from it. The new rules are designed to ensure the protection of biometric data, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said in his Telegram channel on Monday.

"The bill on biometrics caused a wide resonance. To date, the bill has been significantly changed. All uncertainties and double interpretations are excluded," Volodin noted.

In addition, he added, the draft law prescribes mechanisms for guarantees and protection of citizens' rights. "The bill is designed to stop the dissemination of biometric data by various commercial organizations and ensure their state protection," the State Duma speaker said.

He noted that the new provisions of the bill will be available "after its consideration in the second reading on December 20, when the State Duma will discuss these amendments." Volodin also listed the most important solutions that are proposed in the bill. Thus, the document introduces a ban on the storage of genomic information and restricts the list of biometric data, it is proposed to understand only a person's face and his voice.
