OREANDA-NEWS Servicemen of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) deployed coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion" at positions in Kamchatka and the Kuriles as part of a surprise inspection, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.

"As part of a sudden check of the combat readiness of the Pacific Fleet forces, which is carried out by the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, coastal missile complexes "Bal" and "Bastion" of the coastal missile connection of Troops and forces in the northeast of Russia have been deployed in Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands," the message says.

It is noted that the crews of the launchers of the Bal complex received a command to deploy, after which they moved with security from the points of permanent deployment to the specified areas. The length of the march was more than 30 kilometers.

"During the march, the military personnel of the missile compound practiced repelling an attack on a column of a sabotage and reconnaissance group of a conditional enemy," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation clarified.
Also, the Bastion coastal missile systems, which are on duty on the islands of the Kamchatka ridge Matua and Paramushir, moved to the launch positions on alert.
