OREANDA-NEWS Chinese President Xi Jinping supports the position of the Russian Federation in negotiations with NATO. This was told to RIA "Novosti" by the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

The diplomat said that the talks between the two leaders in Beijing were built around discussing the tensions created by the West around China and Russia.

Putin detailed to Xi Jinping Russia's line in negotiations with the United States and NATO on security guarantees in Europe.

"Xi Jinping supported Russia's position on this issue and stressed that it reflects Moscow's fair expectations," Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has sent draft security treaties to the United States and NATO. Among the main points are the non-expansion of the alliance to the east, the refusal to accept Ukraine into its composition and the return of NATO infrastructure to the borders of 1997.
