OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2016. Kaiser Permanente Colorado, the state’s largest nonprofit health plan, today announced the addition of two board certified physicians at its Frisco and Edwards Medical Offices. Carol Louise Venable, MD, is an internal medicine physician offering adult medical care for individuals at the Frisco Medical Offices. Shannon Garton, MD, is a family medicine physician offering continuing, comprehensive health care for individuals and families at the Edwards Medical Offices.

Dr. Venable earned her medical doctorate at Duke University School of Medicine, and completed her internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center, both in Durham, N.C. She continued by completing an emergency medicine residency at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Venable joins Kaiser Permanente from Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo. where she most recently served as director of the Adult Medicine Clinic. Among her accomplishments, Dr. Venable speaks fluent Spanish and has received multiple honors including Preceptor of the Year at Parkview Medical Center, chief resident of Emergency Medicine at Boston Medical Center, asst. chief resident of Internal Medicine at Duke Medical Center, Sarnoff Fellowship for Cardiovascular Research and an American Diabetes Association Medical Student Fellowship.

Dr. Garton earned her medical doctorate at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. She then completed her residency in family medicine at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif. She is also fluent in Spanish, and joins Kaiser Permanente from Avon Urgent Care in Avon, Colo., where she served as medical director, and provided care to a broad spectrum of patients. Dr. Garton is a long time Vail Valley local. She grew up in the area and has been practicing medicine in the area for the past 14 years.
