OREANDA-NEWS. Kaluga plant of Volkswagen Group Rus has launched a full-cycle production of the new the Tiguan, which was the first crossover of the brand Volkswagen of Kaluga production, built on a modular platform with a transverse engine layout (MQB). The first cars will be delivered to the Russian dealers in the first quarter of 2017, according to Volkswagen Group Rus press service.

For the production of Tiguan of second generation the company Volkswagen Group Rus has expanded its production capacity in Kaluga – it was built and equipped a new body shop with area of 12,000 square meters, updated paint and assembly shops. The total investment of Volkswagen Group to the production of new Tiguan will be EUR 180 million.

The production of new Tiguan includes body welding, painting and vehicle assembly. For the first time at the Kaluga plant Volkswagen Group Rus it will be installed panoramic roof on the local model. Furthermore, during the production process of the new Tiguan it will be applied the laser technology and innovative supply system of components for a line, for example, operating under its own weight supply system of underbody for an automated welding station.
