OREANDA-NEWS. According to Rosstat, Russian enterprises manufactured 1.4 million passenger cars in 2017 – that is 21% more than a year ago. In September 2017, LADA Izhevsk plant started production of the LADA Vesta SW estate car and its SUV version – the LADA Vesta SW Cross. Foreign manufacturers also continued extending their model lineups of Russian assembly (the KIA Picanto, the FAW Besturn X80, the Genesis G80, the KIA Rio X-Line, the new generation Hyundai Solaris, KIA Rio, Mazda СХ-5, BMW 5, BMW 7, as well as restyled KIA Mohave, Skoda Rapid, etc.)

Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg remains the leader of foreign vehicle production with 233,500 vehicles in 2017 (+13%). Volkswagen Group manufactured 167,500 vehicles at its enterprise in Russia (+13.9%): 118,500 vehicles in Kaluga (+7.7%) and 49,000 in Nizhny Novgorod (+32.4%). Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad assembled 144,561 vehicles – 53.2% more than a year ago. Nissan plant in St. Petersburg produced 45,827 crossovers (+26%). Altogether 96,794 Nissan and Datsun vehicles were manufactured in Russia (+22.4%), Datsun production grew the most (+38%). Mazda Sollers plant in the Far East assembled 24,085 Mazda СХ-5 and Mazda6 vehicles, which equals the level of 2016.
