OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank and Bank GPB (JSC) acted as mandated arrangers and lenders for a loan contract to finance the Yamal LNG project. Financing amounts to EUR 3.6 bln and will be provided for 15 years. Sberbank's participation amounts to EUR 2.7 bln.

Yamal LNG is a major project to produce liquefied natural gas on the Yamal Peninsula, which will use the South Tambeyskoye gas condensate field. The project involves construction of an LNG plant, the Sabetta international airport, and a sea port.

The shareholders and sponsors of the project are: OAO NOVATEK (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%), and China's Silk Road Fund (9.9%). The structure of the deal includes insurance coverage provided by the Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (JSC EXIAR).

Sberbank CIB is one of the project finance advisors to OAO Yamal LNG.

OAO Yamal LNG is carrying out a project to construct a liquefied natural gas production facility with a capacity of 16.5 mln tonnes per year on the base of the resources in Russia's Yamal Peninsula. The launch of LNG production is scheduled for 2017.
