OREANDA-NEWS Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, told about the main events and results of 2016 in his interview to Vesti KAMAZa.

The head of the auto giant described the outgoing year 2016 as "challenging, but fair". The past year 2015 was much more difficult, according to Sergey Kogogin. On the whole, the Russian market started to revive, and the auto giant was ready to satisfy demand.

In 2016, the year which will be best remembered for milestones, KAMAZ has had all conditions for development. "Firstly, in February we celebrated the 40th anniversary since the day the first KAMAZ vehicle had been produced, this joy was shared with us by President of the RF Vladimir Putin," the head of the auto giant started summing up. "Another landmark was in March when construction of a plant for assembly of cab frames for trucks of the K5 generation was commenced in cooperation with Daimler at the premises of KAMAZ. This is the first large-scale project since the start of construction of KAMAZ itself."

In November, the 5-thousandth cab frame was welded for a new model lineup at the Press and Framing Plant.

In 2016, KAMAZ continued modernizing the model range. The first dump trucks KAMAZ-6580 and KAMAZ-65802 representing the heavy-duty advanced vehicles of the next comfort level rolled off the conveyor line. Besides, the company participated in the development of the unique conception of city's transportation system with the use of driverless buses - the SHUTTLE project.

To crown it all, Sergey Kogogin mentioned the main indicator: the company's market share went up to 58% (against 51% in 2015). The important thing is that we managed to convince our clients, make them confident in our new model range. And now KAMAZ is the key player in the Russian market. "The share of 58% is not only our advantage, but also responsibility: we must meet expectations one hundred percent," said the company's head.
