OREANDA-NEWS. PAO Severstal, one of the world's leading vertically integrated steel and steel related mining companies, has successfully completed its first commercial scale stamping of steel for the mass production of car front panels at Hyundai-KIA.

At the beginning of October, front wing panels for mass production of Hyundai Solaris cars were successfully stamped at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in Saint Petersburg.

Sergey Toropov, CEO of Severstal's Russian Steel division, said: "These will be the first front panels manufactured from Severstal's rolled steel to be used by Hyundai-KIA in car assembly. Now that we have demonstrated commercial scale stamping for mass production this will open up opportunities to supply Hyundai-KIA with additional steel products, particularly for external car panels."

Under the terms of an existing agreement, from January to December 2015 Severstal also supplies Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus with galvanized and cold-rolled steel for manufacturing internal body parts for Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio cars.

Severstal and the Renault-Nissan Alliance have signed an agreement for the supply of rolled steel from July 2015 to February 2016. The rolled steel, which is produced in Cherepovets, will be used in the manufacture of models produced by the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

Severstal already works closely with car manufacturers that have production facilities in Russia and the CIS, including General Motors Uzbekistan, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Mefro Wheels and Volkswagen Group Rus.
