OREANDA-NEWS. Analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a study of the Russian market of new cars, which covered sales by segments.

According to the study in April of 2016, the highest market share of cars is belonged to the B-class - 43.8%. It corresponds to 49 thousand sold units, which is more by 1.3% than in April of 2015. The top- three leaders is formed from LADA Granta (9,9 thousand units; -4,6%), Hyundai Solaris (8,2 thousand units; -8.9%) and KIA Rio (6,9 thousand units; -12.4%).

The former leader - the SUV segment - with a share of 35.5% in April dropped to the second place in the ranking. In quantitative terms, it is almost 40 thousand SUVs and crossovers, which is less by 11.6% than the result of a year ago. Leadership among SUVs and crossovers is kept by Renault Duster (4,5 thousand units; -3%). The top-three also includes Toyota RAV4 (2,9 thousand units; + 42.2%) and the Chevrolet Niva (2,9 thousand units; -4.8%).

We also note that by the results of four months of 2016 sales of cars in the B-class exceeded the volume of sales of SUVs and crossovers in Russia (163.5 versus 157.5 thousand units). As the head of the the press service of analytic agency of "AUTOSTAT", Azat Timerhanov, informed, the top-three leaders of the Russian market includes always cars of the B-class. Besides there is effect of the appearance of new models of AVTOVAZ - LADA Vesta and XRAY, sales of which are growing with each passing month. Therefore, the B- segment regained the leadership of the market, which it lost in the first quarter of 2016.
