OREANDA-NEWS. Dmitry Strezhnev, General Director of EuroChem, and Nikolay Maxyuta, Governor of Volgograd Region, have signed a socioeconomic cooperation agreement for 2006-2008.

The agreement specifies EuroChem actions that are traditionally a part of the company's corporate social responsibility policy. It will be recalled that the agreements of this kind have been annually signed by EuroChem with the governments of the regions where holding enterprises are based. In 2006 Volgograd Region has also become a company's host region, as Gremyachinskoye potash deposit is located there, and a large production unit is planned to be established on its basis.

EuroChem shall, in accordance with the agreement,
- perform drilling operations at Gremyachinskoye potash deposit to prove the estimated reserves of potash salts and register the reserves in the State Balance of Mineral Reserves;
- ensure environmental safety of its operations: introduce and/or use resource-saving technology, develop and improve environmental monitoring system; perform strict environmental control on a regular basis to reduce technogenic impacts on the environment;
- implement social policy: take measures to increase jobs; provide its employees with beneficial working environment and labor protection; participate in initiatives aimed at the improvement of Volgograd Region citizens' life quality.

In its turn, the government of Volgograd Region is committed to establish conditions for sustainable development of material and technical base of EuroChem and its regional subsidiary, and assist in the promotion of their efficiency growth.
