OREANDA-NEWS. Mobile TeleSystems (NYSE: MBT), the leading cellular operator in Russia and the CIS, announced that it is switching to Russian roubles.

As the company is switching to rubles, all MTS rates and services in all regions of Russia will be quoted in rubles adjusted for taxes (VAT) which will be significantly more convenient for its clients and simplify the payment procedure.

All current rates and service fees will be quoted in Russian rubles rounded off to the second decimal. After the transition process is completed, all payment information, personal account balance and service fees will be provided in rubles only.

The company plans to completely switch to rubles from "conditional units" national-wide in 1H 2007.
"For most of us paying for cellular services has become as common as paying for municipal services, public transport or shopping, so we are trying today to make the process of payment for cellular services as convenient and clear for our customers as possible," pointed out the VP and Director of MTS Russia Business Unit Mikhail Shamolin.
