OREANDA-NEWS. Supplies of coal in Russia will last for 400 years, says head of the Federal service for the use of land Vladimir Bavlov, the Interfax agency reports.

Coal production in 2006 is expected to reach 265 million tons, or up by 1.92 percent on 2005. New coals reserves amount to 122.2 million tons against 155 million tons in 2005.

The amount of new coal reserves in Russia surpassed coal production. “We extract about 470 million tons of oil and surveyed 570 million tons in new deposits. With natural gas the figures are 600 billion cubic meters (production) and 650 bn cu.m (new deposits),” head of Rosnedr Anatoly Ledovskikh says.
