OREANDA-NEWS. Gazprom has obtained from the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan two geological survey licenses for the Sargazon (Dangara) and Rengan (Rudaki) oil & gas prospects.

The licenses were awarded within the framework of the May 15, 2003 Agreement between OAO Gazprom and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on Strategic Cooperation in the Gas Industry.

Zarubezhneftegaz (Gazprom subsidiary) will act as the geological survey project operator.

The Rengan prospect is located 20 km south of Dushanbe, close to the Republican trunk highway between Dushanbe and Kurgantyube. The projected gas-bearing area and inferred non-associated gas reserves are estimated at 16 sq km and 35 bcm, respectively.

The Sargazon prospect is located in Dangara (Khatlon) 150 km southeast of Dushanbe. The main traffic artery is the highway connecting Dushanbe, Dangara and Kurgantyube. The Sargazon prospect hasn’t undergone yet a detailed seismic survey. The non-associated gas reserves are valued at 30 billion cubic meters.
