OREANDA-NEWS. Bratsk Pulp and Containerboard Mill became the second in Ilim Pulp (after Kotlas Pulp and Paper Mill) to obtain the right to mark its end products with Forestry Stewardship Council logotype.

In December, Baltles, a centralized service company within Ilim Pulp who delivers raw timber to Bratsk Pulp and Containerboard Mill certified its chain of custody according to FSC standards, thus making raw timber supply to the mill a fully legal chain.

Issuing the certificate was a logical outcome of the three-year co-operation between Ilim Pulp corporation and independent Russian auditing company Europartner, accredited to work within the international FSC system.

By certifying its chain of custody Baltles fulfilled the final condition required for Bratsk Pulp and Containerboard Mill to mark its end product with FSC logo. The mill’s own chain of custody was certified in October 2006. Logging and Timber Rafting Department, who logs and delivers directly for Bratsk Pulp and Containerboard Mill, has also certified its chain of custody and forest management systems.
