OREANDA-NEWS. On March 23, 2007 FSUE “PO “Sevmash” has concluded contract for manufacturing specialized packing sets for Leningrad nuclear electric power station. Sets are meant for storing waste nuclear fuel, reported the press-centre of  FSUE “PO “Sevmash”.

According to contract in March 2008 main sample shall be manufactured, and by the end of 2008 21 serial containers UKH-109 are planned to be produced.

Enterprise has great experience in manufacturing such products. From 2002 to 2006 Sevmash made 60 containers TUK-108/1, meant for storing and transporting submarines waste nuclear fuel. It is the greatest lot of such like products, manufactured by Russian enterprises. Work is carried out within Russian-American program “Joint threat decrease”. In 2006 project was awarded diploma of the 7th specialized exhibition “Products and technologies of double purpose. Defence industrial complex diversification”.

At present time by request of OJSC “Murmansk maritime steam navigation” Sevmash shall produce 50 containers TUK-120, meant for waste nuclear fuel of nuclear ice breakers. At present time 5 products have been already sent in Murmansk.

Order for Leningrad nuclear electric power station requires production expansion. Packing complexes UKH-109 are greater than other samples, manufactured at Sevmash earlier. According to Deputy General Director, Head of production of products for technical purposes Mikhail Budnichenko, preparation of specialized areas is going on, equipment is chosen; procedures and outfitting are being developed.
