OREANDA-NEWS. On March 28, 2007 FSUE Russian Post has announced new all-Russian competition on picture for postage stamp "I’m drawing an alphabet". It is devoted to the year of the Russian language held now, history of Russian Post development and 150-anniversary of postage stamp implementation in Russia. The competition will last till 31 May 2007, reported the press-centre of  Russian Post.


Pictures for stamps designed by the winners will be published at postage prepayment impressions such as block of stamps.
The commission accepts works on general theme "I’m drawing an alphabet" reflecting wide range of trends as follows: history of the country, Russian post, native language, founders of Cyrillic alphabet, establishment of Russian book publishing industry and other ones.


The competition "I’m drawing an alphabet" will be held in two stages. The first one called regional is to define 10 winners in each branch of Russian Post. The second one called Russia-wide is to represent the best works based on the results of the first competition. The results and the names of the winners will be declared on 1 June 2007. Commemorative postage stamp designed by the winners is planned to be issued by the World Post Day in autumn 2007.


The competition will be held in the following categories: children works (7-11 years), junior works (12-16 years), youth works (17 - 25 лет) and professional works. The jury, members of Union of Artists of Russia and Union of Philatelists of Russia will give the names of the winners.


Co-arranger of the project is "Publishing trade house "Marka", the organization that will issue new block of stamps. Information support of the competition is given by CJSC "All-Russia weekly newspaper "Sobesednik", CJSC "Murzilka", magazine "Russian Post" and newspaper "Postal news".
The works for competition are collected in all post offices of Russian Post. The Organizing Committee will determine the winners of the regional competition.
