OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2007 . SLAVINVESTBAK took part in the press-conference of its strategic partner – Bank TuranAlem. This event, participated by over 100 journalists, was held in the form of a teleconference bridge in 4 cities of the CIS: Almaty, Moscow, Tbilisi, and Kiev.
Within the frames of the press-conference, the results of the activity of Bank TuranAlem were summarized, and also there were voiced the plans of development of the BTA Banking Group in the CIS markets including Russia and far-abroad countries.
“SLAVINVESTBAK occupies a key position in development of the BTA Banking Group inside Russia, which is developing with much dynamics,” said Konstantin Kolpakov, the member of the Board of Directors of BTA, during the press-conference. SIB is marked by 13 years long successful experience of operating in the market, dynamic development of its branch network that currently has 23 points-of-sales and will reach 150 by 2010. Within the recent year, the Bank has increased the volume of total assets by 2.4 times to $1008 million and ranked 22 in the RBC rating of “The Most Mortgage Banks of Russia”, having granted mortgage loans totally amounting to $138 million in 2006. In 2007 the Bank plans to grant $365 million of retail loans.
The list of strategic partners of BTA in Russia also includes JSCB “BTA-Kazan”, OJSC “Omsk-Bank” and OJSC “Agroincombank”. The size of total banking assets of the four banks exceeded $1382 million at end-2006, whereas their common total capital made over $160 million.
“In Russia, strategic goals of BTA are to occupy up to 2% of the banking market,” said Roman Solodchenko, the Chairman of the Management Board of Bank TuranAlem, during the press-conference. To achieve that, it is planned to focus its activity on the retail direction and widening of the branch network, as well as to develop mortgage, insurance, leasing (including that in cooperation with Japan), “card” business, to execute implementation of alternative sale channels (call-center, internet-banking, development of the ATM network).
The strategic goal of BTA is its “becoming the largest private financial institution of the CIS”. “I am positive that 2007 will bring us even closer to that goal,” Roman Solodchenko emphasized. It’s worth reminding that in 2006 Bank TuranAlem was acknowledges “The CIS Bank of the Year” by the banking community. At the beginning of 2007, the assets of the BTA Group made $16.3 billion, and total equity - $2 billion. In 2007, it is planned to execute consolidation of the Bank’s assets in the CIS (with their increase to $50 billion by 2015), as well as to implement rebranding.
