OREANDA-NEWS. May 2, 2007. International conference “Ti-2007 in CIS" organized by ZAO “Interstate Association “Titan” was held last week in Yalta. The major topics discussed at the conference were the prospects of development of titanium industry in Russia and CIS and dynamics of the global titanium market.

The conference was attended by 266 participants from 16 countries. VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation was represented by 6 specialists from VSMPO, Verkhnaya Salda, 4 specialists from AVISMA, Berezniki and 3 specialists from Tube Plant, Nikopol.

Anatoly Stroshkov, Director for Aerospace Sales of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, presented a report “VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation – development of titanium mill products manufacture”. VSMPO-AVISMA specialists also presented other reports: "Global Ti market review for 2006", "Development of forging modes for Ti alloy ingots using mathematical simulation to obtain the required structure and mechanical properties of billets and die-forgings". These reports were of great interest for participants of the conference from the point of view of both the expected development and expansion of the company’s capacities, and improvement of production processes and products quality.

The total of 56 reports and 45 poster presentations were given at the conference covering the following subjects: titanium market in CIS and in the world, national industrial development projects, raw material base and sponge production development trends and latest achievements in titanium metallurgy and applications.

Simultaneously with the conference the annual meeting of shareholders of ZAO “Interstate Association “Titan” was held. The meeting elected new members of the Board of Directors. Representatives of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation – D.A. Rymkevich and A. N. Stroshkov – were elected the members of the Board of Directors of Association “Titan”. A. N. Stroshkov was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors, A.V. Alexandrov was appointed CEO of the Association.

ZAO “Interstate Association “Titan” was established in 1991 on the initiative of the leading titanium producers and research institutions. Currently the Association comprises over 40 companies engaged in development and production of titanium in Russia, CIS and other countries.
