OREANDA-NEWS. On April 27, 2007 in the framework of the visit of the Czech President to Russia, the president of Atomstroyexport Sergey Shmatko and the president of ALTA Vladimir Plasil signed a memorandum on the establishment of a Russian-Czech engineering, equipment production and financing joint venture in the territory of the Czech Republic, reported the press-centre of Atomstroyexport.
One of the key goals of this project is to coordinate the activities of Czech equipment producers, to provide the Russian Nuclear Energy Development Program with necessary resources and to consolidate the assets of the Czech machine building industry.
The Memorandum stipulates that the JV should also promote Russian WWER technologies in Central and Eastern Europe where there is a big potential of NPP construction and should encourage Russian-Czech cooperation in the nuclear power sector.
The other important tasks are the integration of the Russian and European experiences, the adaptation of Russian technologies to Western standards and requirements, the establishment of a European center or nuclear energy personnel training and the development of mechanisms of project financing.
The sides agreed to register the JV within a month and to examine prospective projects that can shape the JV’s order portfolio.
