OREANDA-NEWS. On May 1, 2007, the U.S. Department of Commerce passed a preliminary decision regarding revision of the antidumping duty for import of magnesium and magnesium alloys from Russia during the period from October 2004 to March 2006. The antidumping duty rate of 2,34% was established for VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation. The final decision is expected by September 2007, reported the press-centre of VSMPO-AVISMA.

In 2005, in the result of initial investigation the U.S. Department of Commerce established for VSMPO-AVISMA the antidumping rate of 21,71%. Thus, if the preliminary rate is confirmed by the final decision, the duty to be paid by VSMPO-Tirus US, importer of VSMPO-AVISMA products, will be significantly reduced. Such reduction of the antidumping duty will allow to improve magnesium sales in the USA both in physical and financial aspects. Additionally, on April 30, 2007 a request was filed to the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding revision of the antidumping duty for the period from April 2006 to March 2007.
