OREANDA-NEWS. The negotiations took place in Moscow as part of a seminar held by Alstom Transport. The two men discussed the organisation of express and high-speed trains, including between St. Petersburg and Helsinki. Also discussed was the mutual use of Alstom rolling stock on this route, which has been used successfully in Finland recently.

In order to reduce the timeframe and cost of production, the two sides agreed to look to the existing rolling stock, which has been modified in accordance with Russian demands and certification.

Further development of cooperation also came under consideration, including localising future production of rolling stock in Russia.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on using the SCB system (Signalling, Centralisation, Blocking) when operating rolling stock over long distances.
