OREANDA-NEWS. For the last three years mail order volume of Russian Post increased three times from 13 mln items in 2004 to 38,9 mln items in 2006. First of all this fact indicates development of distance trade as order and delivery of goods in Russia, stated I. Syrtsov, Russian Post Director General at the joint press conference of Otto, PPE Group and Russian Post, reported the press-centre of  Russian Post.


Having established joint company with PPE Group, Otto Group enters the Russian market of distance trade to distribute fashionable clothes. According to I. Syrtsov, entering the Russian market the world large company as Otto Group proves that Russia has stable investment climate and develops mail-order market. As to experts’ calculations recently mail order trade growth rate amounted 30-35 % per year. We expect that mutual activities with Otto will help to generate volumes of mail orders considerably that enables post to develop the business in a more dynamic way, also noted Russian Post Director General.


Delivery time of customer orders is evident to be the most important factors of service quality and the guarantee of its further development and popularity. Thus Russian Post is to grant new service quality and higher delivery speed. And the first step of the program is launching new automated sorting center in Moscow region planned for 2007. It will sort to 3 mln items daily and deliver them to eight central regions within 2-3 days. The similar center will start its work in North-West district in 2008. With that the enterprise holds a complex of measures aiming at improvement of logistics, development of new line-haul routes and redirection of current lines. In the future some routes will be reconsidered in accordance with the logistic and stock center constructed in Tver stipulated for activities of Otto in Russia.


Moreover Russian Post offers mail-order companies new services on express delivery as 1st Class Mail and express-delivery EMS Russian Post. The enterprise always develops new services for companies-distributors of mass products. Currently Russian market of distant trade is represented by 20 companies the majority of which are members of National Association of Distance Selling guaranteeing its members’ activities in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act.
