OREANDA-NEWS. International Conference on Nuclear Criticality Safety is to be held in St.Petersburg from May 28 till June 1 2007

The conference has opened today, May 28, with a briefing (14 Korablestroiteley Street, Pribaltiyskaya Hotel, Vasilyevsky island, St.Petersburg).

Attending the event will be the director general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Nuclear Energy Agency Luis Echavarri, the advisor of the head of Rosatom Igor Konyshev, the head of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety, Licensing and Control Department of Rosatom Alexander Agapov, the head of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Institute for Physics and Power Engineering Boris Ryazanov.

The conference is conducted once in four year in different countries (in 2003 it was held in Japan, in 2011 it will be conducted in the UK). It is the first time that Russia is hosting the conference. Over 250 conferees from all over the world will discuss the standards, rules, principles and methods of nuclear safety control.
