OREANDA-NEWS. On May 24, 2007 the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, met with the chairman of the board of the Cypriot Company SB-Telecom, Id Samauwi, reported the Presidential website www.president.gov.by.

The Head of State thanked the investor for the company’s charity activity in Belarus. “It is difficult to find another person who would be involved in charity activities for Belarus on such a large scale,” he said. He pointed out that those funds had been channeled mainly for medical purposes, health care development and reconstruction of hospitals.

The President also underlined that “we have no prejudice whatsoever about your activities. On the contrary, I do trust you and am ready to examine proposals for the development of your business in Belarus."

For his part, Id Samauwi gave assurances to Alexander Lukashenko that the activities of the SB-Telecom Company in Belarus would be carried out in an open and transparent manner.

The Cypriot Company SB-Telecom intends to participate in the construction of a first-class hotel in Minsk. Besides, the Company is interested in providing investments for the updating and reequipment of Belarusian cement manufacturing plants. Several other joint investment projects were also discussed at the meeting.
