OREANDA-NEWS. June 1, 2007. National Container Company is planning to build 2 berths in Ust-Luga in 2007. In 2008 it will develop the surrounding territory and equip platforms to store cargo. It is expected that at the beginning of 2008 the company will operate the first vessel in the new Baltic container terminal.
 
These plans were announced by Olga Denschikova, the analyst of National Container Company, during the third annual forum of the Adam Smith's Institute named Transport Infrastructure of Russia.
 
It should be pointed out that the building of terminal was begun on April, 12 2007. it will cost $800 mn, including $183 mb that will be invested in the first stage of the building.
 
The terminal's capacity will total 3 mn TEU, it might increase up to 6 mn TEU per year in future.
 
At the same time, by I.Levitin's forecast, in a few years the container turnover of all the Russian Baltic terminals will total 6 mn TEU.
