OREANDA-NEWS. OJSC “Power Machines” and JSC “OGK-3” entered into contracts for supply of power generating equipment for the new 225 MW power unit construction project for Kharanorskaya HPP (the branch of JSC “OGK-3”) and for the two new 225 MW power unit construction projects for Cherepetskaya HPP (the branch of JSC “OGK-3”). The total price of the contracts exceeds 2 billion rubles.

Under the terms of the contracts Power Machines will perform the design, manufacturing, testing and delivery of the 225 MW steam turbines as well as generators and supplementary equipment for the three power units. Also Power Machines will perform the erection supervision and starting-up works.

The supply of the equipment for Kharanorskaya HPP is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2008 and for Cherepetskaya HPP - for the 1st - 2nd quarter of 2009. The putting into operation of the new power units is scheduled for 2010.

The feature of the project is that the new technical solutions elaborated by the design divisions of Power Machines will be implemented. For the first time in the Russian power engineering industry a new jet method of the high pressure cylinder blading will be used in the design of the 225 MW steam turbine which will result in the enhanced efficiency. Earlier this method of blading was used in the design of the more powerful (300 MW) turbines, in particular, at Konakovskaya HPP, Wong Be TPP in Viet-Nam and Konasima TPP in India.

For the new power units Power Machines has suggested its new development - the 225 MW turbogenerator with air cooling which is one of the most safe cooling methods for electric machines. In accordance with the resolution of the Scientific and technical council of RAO “UES of Russia” in case of successful implementation of the project the new turbogenerator will be recommended to substitute the old models currently in operation at the 200 MW power units which number currently exceeds 250 in Russia.
