OREANDA-NEWS. July 6, 2007. The largest Russian metallurgical steel mill continues to increase consumption of iron-ore raw materials. The share of import grows in deliveries.

During first five months of current year, about 6 mln.t of iron-ore raw materials were delivered to Magnitogorsk steel mill, which exceeds last year’s indicators by 5% for the same period of time. However, behind insignificant gross growth we can see a noticeable change of qualitative structure of raw materials, delivered to the steel mill.

Almost half of total shipment volume made up pellets, which were purchased by the steel mill by 23% more in comparison with the level of last year. The enterprise shortened purchase of haematite due to this (on average by 11%), but gross volume of raw materials delivery exceeded last year’s indicators.

The main supplier of iron-ore raw materials to  Magnitogorsk steel mill remains Kazakhstan. According to the results of five months of current year, the share of import in total deliveries of iron-ore raw materials exceeded 80% (including almost  90% of pellets, delivered from abroad).
