OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2007. In the first half of 2007, the production branches of OGK-5 generated 18b kWh of power (88.6% as compared to the first half of 2006). Heat production in the first half of 2007 totaled 3.7m Gcal (92.6% as compared to the first half of 2006).

Lower values as compared to the first half of the previous year can be explained by the fact, that, during the winter period of 2006, abnormally cold temperatures were recorded in the regions where OGK-5’s plants are located. At the same time, it is necessary to note the growth of power consumption in the Mid-Urals industrial region. This led to a 10% growth in production of power by Sredneuralskaya GRES in January-June 2007 as compared to the similar period of 2006.

In the first half of 2007, the volume of power sold on the wholesale market totaled 17.1b kWh.

As a result of the Company’s activities over the six months, 17.6b kWh of power was sold under regulated bilateral contracts (RBCs), including 0.5b kWh purchased on the free market to fulfill the Company’s obligations under RBCs, with the purchase price being lower than the tariff set by the Federal Tariff Service of Russia.

DAM (day-ahead market) turnover totaled 6b kWh, or 3.3b RUB, including 2b kWh under free bilateral contracts (FBCs). The turnover on the balancing market (BM) during the same period totaled 1.7b kWh, or 0.7b RUB
