OREANDA-NEWS. On July 11, 2007 a meeting took place at the headquarters of Moscow Railways with representatives from the Volkswagen Rus plant in Kalyzhskaya Oblast, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The Volkswagen Rus plans to begin producing cars by the end of 2007, with the necessary components being delivered to the plant by rail.

Today’s meeting between Vladimir Starosenko, the head of Moscow Railways, and Annet Merlin and Peter Linhardt from Volkswagen Rus, is therefore of crucial importance to the further development of the plant. They discussed the construction and servicing of the lines within the plan, loading and unloading containers, and also the important question of liking Moscow Railways’ Perspektivnaya Station with lines used by Volkswagen Rus.

According to Starosenko, the capital’s railway administration welcomed the partnership and would do everything necessary to prepare the project documentation.

As part of the forthcoming cooperation, Perspektivnaya Station will be constructed, with a new siding capable of accommodating the equivalent of 86 wagons.
