OREANDA-NEWS. Oktober Railways, a regional division of Russian Railways, will restore an imperial coach of Pu Yi, the last Chinese emperor. The restoration is expected to cost 4 million roubles, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The coach is due to arrive as an exhibit at the Railway Museum of Oktober Railways at Moscow’s Warsaw Station on 5 August, the professional holiday of rail workers in Russia.

The coach was built in 1902 and ran for many years on the Chinese Eastern Railway. In the 1930s, during the Chinese-Japanese War, the coach became the property of Japanese railways, and it was during this period that it belonged to Pu Yi.

The coach was acquired as a war trophy by the Soviet Union after the Second World War and was used on Sverdlovsk Railways in the 1970s and 1980s before being transferred as an exhibit to the Railway Museum of Oktober Railways in 1993.
