Within 1985-1987 the USSR Government concluded five Intergovernmental Agreements stipulating cooperation in developing the Yamburg gas field.

The member-countries of the Yamburg Agreements cooperated through natural gas deliveries from the USSR and construction provided by the member-countries’ resources of production-technical and social facilities in the territory of the USSR. Furthermore, they delivered machinery, equipment and materials to satisfy the needs of the USSR national economy including the oil, gas and metallurgical industries.

At present Gazprom regulates issues with the Russian Government on mutual payments and property rights for newly built facilities.
