OREANDA-NEWS. Rosenergoatom and IAEA experts met at Kursk NPP in the framework of their long-term cooperation program.

The subject of the meeting was coordination of the plan of action between Kursk NPP and IAEA task group for introducing Integrated Training and Accident Analysis System (ITAAS) at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd units of Kursk NPP.

IAEA was represented by experts Maciej Jankowski (US), James Fisher (US) and Jan Malesa (Poland), Kursk NPP - by Chief Engineer Alexander Uvakin.

The IAEA experts instructed local specialists on how to effectively use ITAAS and made recommendations on how to improve the modernized safety system models and modify the RELAPS-3D input file. This code is the basis of ITAAS, a system designed under an IAEA extra-budgetary project.

The sides considered ways to ensure effective training and qualification improvement at Kursk NPP under ITAAS project.

Both sides were satisfied with the results of their meeting.
