OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2007. JSC “HydroOGK” has nominated Power Machines the winner of the tender for supply of turbine pumps for Zagorskaya PSPP-2 (pumped storage power plant) currently being under construction. The parties are planning to sign the relevant agreement in the near future.

Under the terms of the project Power Machines will perform the design, manufacturing, model tests and supply of four turbine pumps of the 214 MW capacity each with the 6.3 m runner diameter. The equipment will be supplied to the customer between 2009 and 2011. Also Power Machines will perform the erection supervision.

The completion of the power plant project is scheduled for 2012.

Zagorskaya PSPP-2 having the designed capacity of 840 MW will be built near the currently operating Zagorskaya PSPP. The new plant has been included in the general scheme of power generating facilities for the period till 2020 approved by the Russian government. The Zagorskaya PSPP-2 construction project is necessary for the balancing of the daily load schedules in the power generating system of the Moscow region by way of generating and consuming the power, regulating the active and reactive power and the voltage in the power system.

This is the second large pumped storage power plant in Russia. For the first power plant of that type - Zagorskaya PSPP – it was also Power Machines who supplied the power generating equipment in the middle of 1980-s.
