OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2007. The implementation of an investment project has led to an increase in the low-density polyethylene (LDPE) capacity to 200 kta at the company's subsidiary Tomskneftekhim LLC.

The initial LDPE capacity at Tomskneftekhim LLC was 150 kta.

The project has contributed to the optimization of the existing operations through the introduction of the art of the state technologies. The new technologies drive the safety of the LDPE customer-oriented production up, help expand the lineup of products, and enter the new polymer markets.

The investment project including the necessary documentation approvals is due for completion in autumn 2007.

Background:

Low-density polyethylene is a high molecular product produced by polymerization at high pressure and temperature.

Polyethylene in non-poisonous and is non-hazardous for the human health, chemically inert, has low water absorbing properties, and is highly resistant to alkaline and saline environment, acids and organic solvents, and is also an excellent dielectric.

Low-density polyethylene is widely used in packaging, agricultural film, cables, medical and domestic goods.
