OREANDA-NEWS. On July 23, 2007 at the Gazprom Headquarters Alexander Ananenkov, Acting Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee has chaired a meeting dedicated to gas supplies to the Far East Regions and Republic of Korea, reported the press-centre of Gazprom.

The meeting examined issues relevant to gas supply to the constituents of the Far Eastern Federal District, major research results in the sector of gas supplies to the Far East and Republic of Korea as well as course on negotiations with Kogas.

The Gazprom Headquarters hosted also a working meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, the Korea Energy Economics Institute as well as Kogas.

The parties discussed current issues relevant to execution of the Agreement of cooperation in the gas industry between the Russian Federation Government and Government of the Republic of Korea including issues on Gazprom’s gas supplies from Russia to the Republic of Korea.

The Russian Federation Government appointed Gazprom a coordinator to execute the Program for Development of the Unified Gas Production, Transportation and Supply in Eastern Siberia and the Far East due to Possible Gas Export to the Asia Pacific Markets.

The Russian Federation Government and Republic of Korea Government signed the Agreement of cooperation in the gas sector on October 17, 2006, which identifies Gazprom and Kogas as authorized organizations to implement the Agreement on gas supply from Russia to the Republic of Korea.
