OREANDA-NEWS. China and Belarus plan to implement over 35 trade-economic projects in 2007-2010, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky stated when meeting with Finance Minister of the People’s Republic of China Jin Renqing today, reported the Official website www.government.by.

He noted that the projects had been coordinated with the Chinese government and they “will lay the foundation of the trade-economic cooperation”.

Sergei Sidorsky stressed that China had been the first state to open its embassy in the independent Belarus and the first country in South-East Asia where the Republic of Belarus opened its consulate. Now the two countries have 14 intergovernmental agreements signed. Regional cooperation has been rapidly developing too. The mutual turnover exceeded $1 billion last year.

The Belarusian government attaches great importance to the establishment of cooperation with not only state-run but also private companies of China. According to Sergei Sidorsky, this year the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will open its representative office in Beijing. The Belarusian Prime Minister also pointed to the productivity of Belarusian exhibitions in China.

According to Sergei Sidorsky, effective is the cooperation of Belarusian and Chinese research establishments that currently work at more than 20 projects. The two countries maintain and expand cultural and business links. “Thus we take all efforts so that the relations should meet the spirit of the Declaration,” the Belarusian Premier said.

He said that Belarus would like China to make sure of the dynamic economic development of Belarus. “We have copied many things from the Chinese economy. The expansion of credit cooperation will also contribute to the economic development of the two countries,” the Prime Minister of Belarus said.

China’s Finance Minister Jin Renqing shared his impressions of Belarus with Sergei Sidorsky. “Belarus is not only a beautiful country with beautiful nature. It has a big economic potential and developed infrastructure,” the Chinese guest said.

China’s Finance Minister Jin Renqing also noted that the young Belarusian state takes “big efforts to develop the economy, to attract foreign capital.” According to him, this is similar to the Chinese realities. “We can learn and study from each other. We have similar positions on many things,” Jin Renqing said. He also noted the importance of the political stability in Belarus, rapid economic development and improving living standards.
